Calexico extended their winning streak to five on Monday, bumping them up to 8-1. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 44-38 W against the Santa Fe Christian Eagles. While the Bulldogs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

As for Santa Fe Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 702nd, while Calexico is ranked 218th).

Despite the loss, Santa Fe Christian still got an impressive performance from Jennifer Stanion, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 25 rebounds. Stanion has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more boards the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaedyn Davis, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Calexico will take on Rancho Bernardo in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Fe Christian and Southwest SD will compete for holiday cheer at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
