Basketball Game Preview: Whitney Wildcats vs. Folsom Bulldogs

Whitney hasn't had much luck against Folsom recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Whitney Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the Folsom Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Whitney ended up a good deal behind Oak Ridge and lost 46-32. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Whitney's loss came about despite a quality game from Natalia Benavidez, who posted ten points and four steals. With that strong performance, Benavidez is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Tylie Kitchen, who had five points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Folsom had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-37 win over the Golden Eagles. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 112th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Folsom's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Whitney, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Whitney lost to Folsom at home by a decisive 77-59 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Whitney avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
