Basketball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Christian Academy of Knoxville's Winning Streak

After a string of eight wins, Christian Academy of Knoxville's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Silverdale Academy Seahawks by a score of 52-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since November 28, 2023.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddie Braden, who went 9-for-15 on her way to 21 points and five boards. Braden's morning made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. Colie Thompson was another key player, going 8-for-18 en route to 21 points.

Silverdale Academy was led to victory by Kinsley Owen and Braylee Raby. Owen went 10-for-20 to rack up 25 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Raby almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Owen has scored at least a third of Silverdale Academy's points.

Christian Academy of Knoxville's loss dropped their record down to 24-8. As for Silverdale Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season.
