Basketball Recap: Marin Academy Takes a Loss

If Marin Academy was riding high fresh off their 73-33 takedown of Convent of the Sacred Heart last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Marin Academy Wildcats took a blow against the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers on Tuesday, falling 58-15. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 506th, while the Tigers are ranked 230th).

Among those leading the charge was Amaya Tavu, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 15 points and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Moy, who went 5 of 6 en route to 13 points.

Marin Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7. As for Lick-Wilmerding, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marin Academy has already played their next matchup (against University), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers challenge the San Domenico Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lick-Wilmerding is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.
