Softball Recap: Aquinas Triumphs

Aquinas won the last time they faced Highway 91 and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Monarchs came out on top against Highway 91 by a score of 9-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Monarchs.

Faith Samek made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bailee Hough, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Madison Vandenberg, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Aquinas' victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Highway 91, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aquinas will venture away from home to challenge North Bend Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Highway 91, they will challenge O'Neill at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
