Football Game Preview: Abilene Eagles vs. Bel Air Highlanders

Two dominant signal callers in Brayden Henry and Angel Dominguez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Abilene Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bel Air Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Abilene has six straight victories, Bel Air has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Friday, Abilene was able to grind out a solid win over Monterey, taking the game 42-34. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Plainsmen are ranked 410th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bel Air played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 55-14 loss at the hands of Americas. The Highlanders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.

Despite the defeat, Bel Air saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jayden Lopez rushed for 198 yards.

Bel Air's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Abilene, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
