Football Game Preview: Logan Longhorns vs. New Mexico School for the Deaf Roadrunners

The Logan Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the New Mexico School for the Deaf Roadrunners at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Logan's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

New Mexico School for the Deaf's offense is going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Logan hadn't allowed a single point the last three times they've hit the field. The Longhorns' defense stepped up to hand Roy/Mosquero a 66-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Longhorns have won five contests by more than 49 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for New Mexico School for the Deaf, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They really took it to Dora for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-19 win. The Roadrunners pushed the score to 48-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Coyotes had no chance of recovering from.

New Mexico School for the Deaf's win came from a few key players Logan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Santiago Lopez, who picked up 97 receiving yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making 12 total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Zion Holmes was another key player, gaining 129 total yards and four touchdowns.

Logan pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points over those games. As for New Mexico School for the Deaf, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Logan against New Mexico School for the Deaf in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 62-7 win. In that game, the Longhorns amassed a halftime lead of 50-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
