Baseball Recap: Rutgers Prep Gets the Win

Rutgers Prep posted their closest win since April 1st on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Dayton Bulldogs 8-7.

Anuj Bandireddy looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025.

On the hitting side, Alex Perez was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddox Chu, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Rutgers Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Rutgers Prep's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Dayton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rutgers Prep will be taking part in a tournament against Princeton Day at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dayton, they will host Gill St. Bernard's at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
