Soccer Game Preview: Palo Alto vs. Mountain View

Palo Alto hasn't had much luck against Mountain View recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Palo Alto Vikings will look to defend their home pitch against the Mountain View Spartans at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Palo Alto is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They won by a goal and slipped past Soledad 2-1. The win was all the more spectacular given the Vikings' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Aztecs are ranked 103rd).

Meanwhile, Mountain View's game on Saturday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They skirted past Evergreen Valley 2-1.

Charlotte Higgins was the driving force of Mountain View's attack as she scored both of Mountain View's goals, bringing her season total up to seven goals.

Palo Alto now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Palo Alto beat Mountain View 2-0 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Palo Alto repeat their success, or does Mountain View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
