Basketball Recap: West Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bloomington

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Valley). They took down the Bloomington Bruins 49-32 on Monday. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

West Valley was led to victory by Abigail Malak and Makayla Castaneda. Malak posted 16 points, while Castaneda had 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Cruz, who put up nine points.

West Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. As for Bloomington, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

West Valley will square off against Perris at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Valley is facing Perris at the right time seeing as Perris is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bloomington, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Indio at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
