Softball Recap: Pueblo Central Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Pueblo Central dropped to 20-5 on Saturday, ending the team's eight-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Severance Silver Knights, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Severance, they pushed their record up to 19-4-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by eight runs or more this season.

For Severance's part, Katie Thomas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Thomas has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September.

In other batting news, Zeta Gattis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzy Henneke, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Pueblo Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Mead on the 18th. As for Severance, they will square off against Cheyenne Mountain at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The Silver Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red-Tailed Hawks have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
