Basketball Recap: Bakersfield Christian Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Bakersfield Christian can now relate to. They fell just short of the Shafter Generals by a score of 60-57 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since December 7, 2024.

Isela Lugo was her usual excellent self, going 7-for-11 to rack up 21 points and eight boards for Shafter. That's the most points Lugo has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Alexia Ramirez, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

Bakersfield Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 15-15. As for Shafter, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 24-5.

Bakersfield Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shafter, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sierra at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Shafter has won 20 straight at home dating back to last season, while Sierra won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
