Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Santa Fe Catholic extended their winning streak to seven games thanks to a huge performance from Tate Darner. The Santa Fe Catholic Hawks were the clear victor by a 77-53 margin over the Winthrop College Prep Academy Spartans on Wednesday thanks in part to Darner, who almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine rebounds. The contest was his eighth in a row with at least ten points.

Urijah Newkirk was another key player, putting up 12 points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Despite the loss, Winthrop College Prep Academy still got an impressive performance from Zachariah Grace, who posted eight points and three blocks. Grace is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Trajan Henson, who had nine points.

Santa Fe Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-14.
