Softball Recap: Centura Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Centura entered their tilt with Milford on Saturday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 8-4. Eight seems to be a good number for the Centurions as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Calleigh Sundberg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Emma Jacobs was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Lauren Suntych was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Centura was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Centura's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Milford, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Coming up, Centura will be taking part in a tournament against Seward at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Centurions are facing the Bluejays at the right time seeing as the Bluejays are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Milford, they will take on Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
