Baseball Game Preview: Northside Patriots vs. Mundy's Mill Tigers

The Northside Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Mundy's Mill Tigers at 5:55 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northside has seven straight wins, Mundy's Mill has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Northside made easy work of Mundy's Mill and carried off a 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Sam Laney was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting no hits from his an at bat.

In other batting news, Luke Norsworthy was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Javion Windham, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.

Northside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in ten consecutive contests.

Northside pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mundy's Mill, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
