Recap: Round Valley Mustangs vs. Mendocino Cardinals
The Round Valley Mustangs had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against Mendocino by a score of 51-40. For Round Valley, this counts as revenge for the 52-35 loss the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Round Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ayla Hinman, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and two blocks. Hinman has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Josey Spurlock, who scored eight points along with three steals and two blocks.
Round Valley is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Mendocino, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Round Valley will take on the Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Point Arena has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 361 points over their last six contests. As for Mendocino, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Potter Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
