Basketball Recap: Tokay's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Tokay extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Thalia Chavez. The Tokay Tigers took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-13 win over the River Islands Riptide thanks in part to Chavez, who posted 19 points and five steals. She is becoming a predictor of Tokay's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 10-4 (and 1-2 when she doesn't).

The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiyanna Landry, who had seven points and six steals. Those seven points gave her a new career-high.

Tokay's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for River Islands, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tokay will head out to challenge Galt at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Tokay has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for River Islands, they are taking a road trip to face off against Ripon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
