Basketball Game Preview: Rio Americano Raiders vs. Inderkum Tigers

The Rio Americano Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Inderkum Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Americano has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with eight straight defeats, while Inderkum will come in with four straight victories.

Rio Americano is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Ponderosa on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Rio Americano came up short against Ponderosa, falling 50-27. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 757th, while the Bruins are ranked 115th).

Meanwhile, Inderkum strolled past Woodcreek with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 55-36.

Rio Americano better keep an eye on Jamiah Fontenberry. She was instrumental in Inderkum's win, putting up 28 points. The game was Fontenberry's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Aniyah Bruhn was another key player, earning 11 points.

Inderkum's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points over those games. As for Rio Americano, their loss dropped their record down to 6-17.

Rio Americano was dealt a bruising 80-13 defeat at the hands of Inderkum when the teams last played back in January.
