Basketball Recap: Santiago Takes a Loss

After flying high against Corona last Thursday, Santiago came back down to earth. The Santiago Sharks lost to the King Wolves on the road by a 53-34 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Wolves are ranked 38th).

Santiago has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for King, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 21-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santiago won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Norco at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Santiago is facing Norco at the right time seeing as Norco is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for King, they and Centennial will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Centennial's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
