Football Game Preview: Edmund Burke Academy Spartans vs. Brentwood War Eagles

Edmund Burke Academy is 2-8 against Brentwood since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Spartans will host the War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Edmund Burke Academy's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Thomas Jefferson Academy with a sharp 21-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Brentwood blew past Briarwood Academy, posting a 49-20 win. With the War Eagles ahead 42-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Edmund Burke Academy better focus on containing Baylor Cobb and Tristan Robinson as the pair were huge in Brentwood's win. Cobb rushed for 37 yards and one touchdown, while Robinson rushed for 56 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries. What's more, Cobb racked up 145 passing yards, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Quez Collins got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Brentwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 164 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Brentwood, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Collins, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Edmund Burke Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Brentwood, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
