Baseball Game Preview: Wilkinson County Warriors vs. Johnson County Trojans

For the second straight game, Wilkinson County will face off against Johnson County. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Wilkinson County has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Johnson County will arrive with five straight wins.

Wilkinson County lost 12-2 to Johnson County on Wednesday.

For Johnson County's part, S. Stapleton and C. Wombles made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Stapleton tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Wombles pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, Stapleton posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. At bat, Stapleton went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Wombles scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Stapleton is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Johnson County got a massive performance out of W. Peeples, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs Peeples has posted since back in February. J. Rowland was another key player, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Johnson County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Johnson County pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wilkinson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11-1.
