Golden Valley has gone 9-0-1 against Merced recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Golden Valley Cougars will challenge the Merced Bears at 5:15 p.m. Golden Valley's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Golden Valley fell victim to Buhach Colony and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Thunder by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, Merced came into Wednesday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Los Banos on Wednesday, sneaking past 2-1.

Golden Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Merced, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Golden Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Merced when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 2-0. Will Golden Valley repeat their success, or does Merced have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
