Basketball Recap: Charleston Math & Science Victorious

If Academic Magnet wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Charleston Math & Science, they should've done a better job of containing Zion King. The Riptide managed a 58-54 win over the Raptors on Saturday thanks in part to King, who posted 25 points and five boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Charleston Math & Science's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Haasawn Todd, who earned ten points along with six assists and three steals. Todd is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season.

Charleston Math & Science now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Academic Magnet, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charleston Math & Science will challenge Charleston Collegiate at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Academic Magnet, they will square off against Cathedral Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raptors will be up against the Generals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
