Softball Recap: Central Gwinnett Drops Highest Score of Season Against Cedar Shoals

Central Gwinnett extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cedar Shoals Jaguars. On the bright side, the eight- run performance marked the Black Knights' highest-scoring game to date.

Cedar Shoals' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the match before.

For Cedar Shoals' part, Gretta Garrett made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up seven earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Garrett a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Kate Graichen was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Savannah Rawls, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Gwinnett will head out to challenge Discovery at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cedar Shoals, they will venture away from home to square off against Eastside at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
