Recap: Cambria Heights Highlanders vs. Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays

Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Cambria Heights Highlanders proved on Wednesday. They blew past Conemaugh Valley, posting a 60-30 victory at home. Given Cambria Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while Conemaugh Valley is ranked 599th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sienna Kirsch continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 29 points and nine steals. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gracey Vinglish, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.

Conemaugh Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Kyra Miller and Sarah Miller. Miller scored 11 points, while Miller scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season.

The victory got Cambria Heights back to even at 9-9. As for Conemaugh Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-17.

Cambria Heights will head out on the road to face off against Conemaugh Township at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Conemaugh Township focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday. As for Conemaugh Valley, they will be playing at home against Portage at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Portage will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Conemaugh Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
