Baseball Game Preview: Plainfield East Bengals vs. Downers Grove North Trojans

The Plainfield East Bengals will head out to challenge the Downers Grove North Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Sunday, Plainfield East and Antioch finished up their contest with a 9-9 tie.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Downers Grove North made sure to put some runs up on the board against Oswego East on Tuesday. Downers Grove North walked away with a 10-7 win over Oswego East. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Braylon Tomlinson and Colin Doyle dominated on the mound. Tomlinson pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Doyle pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Russ Oros was a standout: he scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Joah Ratio was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Plainfield East's draw makes their record 2-1-1 this season. As for Downers Grove North, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Plainfield East might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Downers Grove North in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Plainfield East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
