Baseball Recap: Mceachern Takes Down Newton in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only McEachern walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Newton Rams on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since March 11th.

The team relied heavily on Malachi Butler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

McEachern is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Newton, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: McEachern beat the Rams by a score of 7-0 later that day.
