Adams had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Southwest Raiders 32-30. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 37-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Adams got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyriq Smith out in front who rushed for 130 yards and four TDs. The Cougars also got a significant boost from Lowell Cumby, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.

When it comes to explaining why Southwest lost on Friday, don't look at Zachariah Cain. Despite the final result, he rushed for 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries.

Adams has already played their next match, a 63-9 loss against Lincoln on the 5th. As for Southwest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 50-21 victory against Wilmer-Hutchins on the 4th.
