Recap: Norwalk Lancers vs. La Mirada Matadores
The Norwalk Lancers suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Friday. They suffered a tough 61-40 defeat at the hands of La Mirada. While losing is never fun, Norwalk can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 936th, while La Mirada is ranked 425th).
Norwalk lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Keilani Ganancial, who scored 17 points along with two steals. That was a full 42.5% of Norwalk's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Justine Abat, who scored six points.
This is the second loss in a row for Norwalk and nudges their season record down to 8-13. As for La Mirada, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Norwalk will take on Firebaugh at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for La Mirada, they will head out on the road to square off against Bellflower at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
