Soccer Game Preview: Gardena vs. San Pedro

Gardena hasn't had much luck against San Pedro recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Gardena Panthers will host the San Pedro Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Gardena is headed into the match without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. They never let Narbonne onto the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, San Pedro hasn't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over Rancho Dominguez. Leilani Phillips was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Something new happened on Wednesday as Kobe Teofilo saw her first action of the season, playing 25 minutes against Rancho Dominguez. Teofilo made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal and one assist A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

San Pedro's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-0-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those six games. As for Gardena, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0-1.

Gardena might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from San Pedro when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Gardena avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
