Baseball Game Preview: Seckinger Jaguars vs. Lanier Longhorns

The Seckinger Jaguars will challenge the Lanier Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Seckinger is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

On Monday, everything went Seckinger's way against Lanier as Seckinger made off with a 10-1 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won three games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Harry Pirkle made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Andrew Carr was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Nicholas Fernandez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Seckinger was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lanier only posted a batting average of .208.

Seckinger's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-2. As for Lanier, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
