Softball Recap: Grovetown Warriors vs. Newton Rams
Grovetown waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Newton Rams 11-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Josalyn Sergent made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four runs and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Treasure Story was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Zah'Rya Lawson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Grovetown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newton only managed three hits.
Grovetown's record now sits at 19-4. As for Newton, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Looking ahead, Grovetown will challenge Rockdale County at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Newton, they will face off against Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
