Basketball Recap: Trinity Christian Gets the Win

Trinity Christian had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the New Garden Friends Bears by a score of 45-36 on Saturday.

JaVon Motta was the offensive standout of the matchup as he went 6-for-12 on his way to 15 points along with five assists and three steals. Alex 'AJ' Sanford was another key player, putting up seven points and five assists.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Trinity Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Garden Friends only racked up five.

New Garden Friends' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kingston Clifton, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Clifton has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 24 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Valentine Abens, who earned 11 points.

New Garden Friends' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Trinity Christian will welcome Oak City Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders will be up against the Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 74.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for New Garden Friends, they will head out on the road to challenge Carolina Friends at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
