Softball Recap: Northside Wins Going Away Against Cairo

Northside won the last time they faced Cairo and things went their way on Saturday too. The Patriots blew past the Syrupmakers 8-2. Considering the Patriots have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Georgia Stokes looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Northside let Atali McCrea and Kennedy Williams run wild. McCrea went 2-for-3 with one home run, while Williams went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits McCrea has posted since back in September. Kassidy Anderson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Northside hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive games.

Northside pushed their record up to 21-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Cairo, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8.

Coming up, Northside will welcome Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 3.4, the Lions 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Cairo, they will venture away from home to take on Worth County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
