Softball Recap: Chouteau-Mazie's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Chouteau-Mazie had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Mounds Golden Eagles 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 back in August.

Rylee Detweiler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

Chouteau-Mazie hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.

Chouteau-Mazie's win bumped their record up to 23-8. As for Mounds, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-14 record.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Chouteau-Mazie is set to face off against their familiar foe Howe at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.6, the Lions 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Mounds will square off against rival Wyandotte at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
