Cherokee Bluff waltzed into their contest on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They walked away with a 14-9 victory over the Jefferson Dragons. 14 seems to be a good number for the Bears as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Tucker Holton looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cherokee Bluff let Kaden Thompson and Bryce Fontenot run wild. Thompson scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Fontenot scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Cherokee Bluff is undefeated when Fontenot posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jordan Wilkerson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Cherokee Bluff's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cherokee Bluff beat the Dragons by a score of 13-5 later that day.
