Preview: Oroville Tigers vs. Orland Trojans
The Oroville Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Orland Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oroville will be strutting in after a win while Orland will be coming in after a loss.
Oroville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They snuck past Gridley with a 44-39 victory.
Oroville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leila Jackson led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six steals. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lili Kelemen, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Orland came up short against Las Plumas on Tuesday and fell 54-43.
Oroville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season. As for Orland, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.
Oroville was taken down by Orland 54-24 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Oroville was down 34-14.
