Softball Recap: Aquinas Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Aquinas came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Southern Valley/Alma as they made off with a 12-2 victory.

Faith Samek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madison Vandenberg was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brookelynn Banholzer, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Aquinas hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Valley/Alma struck out seven times.

Aquinas' win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Southern Valley/Alma, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.

Aquinas has already played their next matchup, a 6-5 defeat against NEN on the 27th. As for Southern Valley/Alma, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-2 loss against Southern/Diller-Odell on the 27th.
