Softball Recap: Lewis-Palmer Rangers vs. Liberty Lancers
Lewis-Palmer had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-4 to make it eight. They lost 12-2 to the Liberty Lancers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 two weeks ago.
Mady Folph made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Joella Streeter also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
As for Liberty, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games.
On Liberty's side, McKenna Newton was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Riffle, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Coming up, Lewis-Palmer will challenge Loveland at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rangers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Wolves have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Liberty, they will face off against Pine Creek at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
