Basketball Recap: West Ranch Comes Up Short

West Ranch played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Canyon Cowboys and fell 75-21. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 746th, while the Cowboys are ranked 244th).

Canyon found their leader in freshman Darby Dunn, who shot 4-for-5 from long range and dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 steals. Dunn's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Shannen Wilson, who posted 16 points and six rebounds.

West Ranch has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Canyon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Ranch will host Saugus at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canyon, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Glendale at 5:00 p.m.
