Baseball Recap: Rockdale County Finds Home Field Redemption Against South Gwinnett

There's no place like home for Rockdale County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against the South Gwinnett Comets on Friday as Rockdale County made off with an 11-1 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Eli Richey spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last four matchups.

At the plate, Celeb Ellison was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Jonathan Raggs was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Rockdale County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Rockdale County pushed their record up to 8-14 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Gwinnett, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rockdale County will square off against Cedar Shoals at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Cedar Shoals has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.17 runs per game on average), something Rockdale County will no doubt try to take advantage of.
