Softball Game Preview: Clinton Cardinals vs. Odessa Bulldogs

Clinton hasn't had much luck against Odessa recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cardinals will venture away from home to face off against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Clinton has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Clinton faced off against Oak Grove on Tuesday. The Cardinals came up short against the Panthers, falling 13-3.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Odessa sidestepped Harrisonville for a 4-2 win. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Crisslyn Lummus looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Keely Byrd, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. Brooklyn Burks was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Odessa, their record now sits at 7-8.

Clinton might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Odessa when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
