Basketball Recap: Northern Potter Comes Up Short

Northern Potter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Port Allegany Gators. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while the Gators are ranked 180th).

Ella Moses continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Port Allegany, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Moses has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brynn Evens, who posted 12 points along with five rebounds and four blocks.

Northern Potter's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Port Allegany, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northern Potter and Oswayo Valley will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Port Allegany, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cameron County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
