Basketball Game Preview: New Covenant Christian Flames vs. Linville Hill Warriors

The New Covenant Christian Flames will head out to challenge the Linville Hill Warriors at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

New Covenant Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They escaped with a win against Lancaster County Christian by the margin of a single free throw, 48-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Flames.

New Covenant Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Miracle Hershey led the charge by dropping a double-double with ten points and ten steals. Hershey has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Qynne Demler, who posted 19 points.

New Covenant Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Linville Hill had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 46-33. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th in Pennsylvania, while the Wildcats are ranked 234th in Pennsylvania), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Covenant Christian's record now sits at 18-3. As for Linville Hill, their record now sits at 22-2.

Things could have been worse for New Covenant Christian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-37 loss to Linville Hill in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can New Covenant Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
