Softball Recap: Doherty Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Doherty's offense. They lost 19-0 to the Liberty Lancers on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 19-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Doherty and nudges their season record down to 1-6. As for Liberty, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Doherty will welcome Pine Creek at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 12.3 runs per game this season. As for Liberty, they will be playing at home against Rampart at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.88 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
