Softball Recap: Arabia Mountain Takes a Loss

Arabia Mountain extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 6-15. They came up short against the Woodward Academy War Eagles, falling 14-2. Having soared to a lofty 26 runs in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Woodward Academy, their record now sits at 7-10. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Arabia Mountain: they've now won four in a row.

For Woodward Academy's part, Cymone Woodfaulk made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Woodfaulk has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Kaitlyn Weeks was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Claire Cavanaugh, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arabia Mountain will take on M.L. King at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.38 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Woodward Academy, they will be playing at home against Lakeside at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The War Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
