Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Notre Dame and West Campus squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Notre Dame had to settle for second. They took a 36-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Campus Warriors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Regents came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Warriors are ranked 264th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Campus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Loismary Justice, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards. Another player making a difference was Esabel Otsuji, who posted 13 points and five steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Notre Dame and nudges their season record down to 13-11. As for West Campus, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season.

Notre Dame does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Campus, they will challenge Half Moon Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Campus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.
