Baseball Recap: Putnam County Extends Winning Streak to Three

Putnam County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Towers Titans with a sharp 16-1 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 15-0 win last Wednesday.

Tanner Lukens made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Branan Griffin, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Jackson Dodd was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Putnam County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Putnam County's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Towers, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Putnam County will welcome Social Circle at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Towers, they will square off against Jasper County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
