Soccer Game Preview: Ventura vs. Oak Park

The Ventura Cougars will challenge the Oak Park Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ventura's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Ventura fell victim to Oxnard and their airtight defense back in December of 2024. They lost 8-0 to the Yellowjackets. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 674th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Oak Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 2-0 defeat to Independence.

Ventura's loss dropped their record down to 1-4-3. As for Oak Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Ventura beat Oak Park by a goal in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, winning 2-1. Does Ventura have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oak Park turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
