Baseball Recap: West Salem Comes Up Short

West Salem had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 9-17 to make it six. They lost 11-1 to the South Salem Saxons. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Titans couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for South Salem, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The result was nothing new for South Salem, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For South Salem's part, Kellen Bowman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Bowman has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, South Salem got a big performance out of Logan Scott, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs. Those four hits gave Scott a new career-high. Ben Greer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Salem will square off against South Medford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Salem, they will take on Mountainside at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
